Since 1990, The Family Center and Imagine Nation Museum have annually recognized women and families living and/or working in the Bristol area who have distinguished themselves through outstanding leadership and unselfish community service. Click for more information and a nomination form.

Tuesday, April 1 : April Youth Poetry Contest begins!
Enter your poem into our annual April Poetry Contest!
K-6th grade categories. Entries must be received by Friday, April 18, 5 pm. Awards & prizes! Winners will be invited to read entries at our Poetry Slam event Tuesday, April 29. click for more information.

Friday, April 4 : The Sunshine Road

The ever-popular musical duo of The Sunshine Road returns to the Imagine Nation Museum! Come sing along to your favorite tunes! Performance at 6:30 pm.
Reduced admission of $4.00 per person, children under one are free. 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Pizza, soda, hot chocolate, and ice cream are available at our old-fashioned Soda Fountain.

Saturday, April 12 : Family Storytelling Festival!
Featuring Storytelling Performances by:
1:00 pm : Huga Tuga, a magical reading and musical adventure!
2:00 pm : Billy Steers author/illustrator of Tractor Mac
3:00 pm : Mary Mary Jo Maichack, national award-winning minstrel storyteller!

Literacy and storytelling activities and crafts! Door Prizes! Walk-about characters! Storybook Facepainting! Give a Book - Take a Book Table Bring in your gently used children's book to trade for another book!

Admission $7.00 per person non-members. Only $2.00 for members!

Science Performer Cheryl Blum guides visitors on a musical and visual journey of the senses! Performance at 11 am.

Tuesday, April 22: Earth Day Celebration
Our annual Earth Day event includes a host of "clean and green" activities including the return of our wacky "Recycled Runway"! 10:00-4:00pm.


Wednesday, April 23 : Baby Animals!
Dianne Parmalee of Flanders Nature Center introduces museum visitors to some of the newest (and cutest) animals of the spring season! 3:00 pm.

Thursday, April 24: Sense of Smell Day featuring our popular Odor-EatersSM Rotten Sneaker Contest!
In this zany beauty pageant, you compete with your dirtiest, stinkiest pair of sneakers! Awards, fame, and Odor-EatersSM products given to the winners! Contest held at 4:00 pm. Call to register 314-1400.

Friday, April 25: National Engineers Day
Children will work with G.E. volunteers to learn about engineering fun, designing and constructing exciting hands-on projects. 10:00-4:00pm. (rescheduled from Feb. 22).



May Events

Friday, May 2 : First Friday Festival
Come enjoy Mexican music and crafts as we celebrate Cinco de Mayo! Make maracas, play piñata, and dance the Mexican hat dance! Reduced admission of $4 per person. Sponsored by the Bristol Mayor's Tourist Entertainment Arts & Museums Committee. Burritos and Mexican ice cream available in the Soda Fountain.

Friday May 9 : Mother's Day Gardening

Come to the Imagine Nation Greenhouse room to plant a special plant for Mother's Day. Then decorate your plant with a special garden message. 9:30 am to 5 pm.

Friday, May 23 : National Turtle Day

See live turtles, create your own take-home turtle in our Arts Area and learn about efforts to rescue the world's turtles.

May 27-29 : NASA's Space Exploration Experience

Experience an interactive simulated moon trip! Touch a moon rock! Learn about the Moon & Mars Initiatives! Explore living and working in space! Space exploration activities and crafts! And much more!
Public Hours : Tuesday May 27 (3-5 pm), Wednesday May 28th (3-7 pm) & Thursday May 29 (3-7 pm). Limited showtime availability. In collaboration with ESPN. $5.00 per person museum admission includes the Space Exploration Experience!

NASA's Exploration Experience is an interactive traveling exhibit that inspires visitors as they embark on a simulated journey into space. The exhibit simulates a visit to the moon, the earliest destination in America's next great era of exploration. Interactive control panels and activity stations, immersive 3-D imagery, and audio effects will plunge visitors into a not-too-distant future on the moon's surface. The exhibit will demonstrate what it will be like to live and work on other worlds and explore the benefits these expeditions might reap here on Earth.
